NCSY TJJ BUS 5- Days 5-6 (Kfar Kedem, Tzipori, Zavitan, and Chocolate Factory)

Shalom TJJ Bus 5 Family,

Our final two days of the North were filled with plenty of exciting moments.

On Monday we went back in time to the Mishnaic period in the village of Kfar Kedem. After putting on the appropriate garb we proceeded to ride donkeys (we even got donkey drivers’ licenses!) bake our own pitas and have a full meal just like in the olden days. We left Kfar Kedem, but not before we received a carrier pigeon that would take our message from our next stop back to Kfar Kedem. Our final stop was in the ancient city of Tzipori, where Yifat (our tour guide) masterfully played out the different layers the city held.

On Tuesday we began our day with a beautiful Zavitan trail where we had our first real hike of the summer. We all enjoyed the delicious waterfall and natural pool in middle of the hike as we took a quick swimming break to refresh ourselves.

Afterwards we went to a boutique Chocolate Factory where we learned and watched about the process making chocolate as well as tasting and making our own chocolate to take back home with us.

Following the factory we went to the Ben-Tal lookout and learned about the significance of the Golan Heights and how essential it is in protecting the Land of Israel from its surrounding enemies.

To end the day we made our way down south to Ein Gedi and got settled in. The night ended with an all out Panoply tournament filled with fun bus trivia.

Tomorrow we head to Ein Gedi, Masada, and the Dead Sea!

Best,

Rabbi Mike
