Shalom TJJ Bus 5 Family,
This passed Friday we went continued our exploration of the North discovering the Holy City of Tzfat. We went to various Ancient Synagogues, Artist Colony, and met an glass blowing artist named Sheva Chaya. We had the chance to hear about her incredible story and journey to Tzfat as well as witness her art in practice.
After Tzfat we went to the Otzar Stam center where learnt about Sifrei Torah, Mezuzot, and Tefillin. We even got to learn how to write Hebrew letters that are found in those various Jewish centerpieces.
When we arrived back in Chispin we had a “Shabbat Shuk” where TJJers had a chance to tap into the preparatory stages of Shabbat and make their own glass candle holders, challah covers, besamim bags, grape juice, and enjoy some nice Yiddish Kugel.
We came into Shabbat on a high with singing and dancing. We went to a beautiful sunset view to welcome in the Shabbat and ended the night with a Q and A session with NCSY Senior lecturer Rabbi Israel Lashak.
Shabbat day we learned about what it means to be part of the Jewish nation as an individual and the significance of unity among our people. We concluded Shabbat back where we started singing songs of connection. We closed Shabbat with a musical Havdalah led by our Assistant Director Rabbi Jeremy. The room was rocking and spirits were electric.
Saturday night we had an inter-bus dodgeball game in which we came out victorious!
Best,
Rabbi Mike
