Shalom Everyone,
On Friday we started our day walking up to the Arbel lookout. It was a breathtaking view of the Galil. We then went to Tziporri and visited the ancient synagogue where we learnt about our heritage. Afterwards we went to Kefar Kedem where we dressed up in Talmudic clothing, rode donkeys, made our own pita, and had a delicious BBQ lunch.
After a packed morning and early afternoon we went back to our base and prepared for Shabbat.
Shabbat began with a spirit filled “Pre-Shabbat Ruach” and candle lighting program ran by our incredible advisors. We sang Kabalat Shabbat together in unison and then enjoyed our first Shabbat meal together. The night closed off with a “Brachot Tish” (Tish is Yiddish for a long table) where we learned all of the different Brachot said over different food items.
Shabbat day was packed with sessions on the topic of Kedusha (Holiness) and Tikkun Olam (Perfecting the World). We ended off the Shabbat with beautiful singing and a Havdalah concert.
After Shabbat we had a Panoply trivia competition filled with energy, laughs, and great memories. Following the night activity we had Pizza and headed to sleep.
Week 2 here we come!!!
Best,
Michael Kahn (Rabbi Mike)
