Shalom tJJ Bus 5 Family,
We started off the morning at the museum for the blind. We were led through the exhibit by a visually impaired guide. This enabled us to experience a day in the life of a blind person. At the end we had an opportunity to ask our guides questions about their lives and the challenges that come with being visually impaired. We all walked away with a powerful sense of gratitude for both our sight and the small things in life.
Next we went to Bar Ilan university and learnt about the Israeli-Arab conflict as well as the amazing experience they offer for post high school students during ones gap year.
To top it all off- the day ended with a visit to the city of TEL AVIV! Shopping time and a genuine Israel cultural experience at Shuk HaCarmel! Lastly we visited Israel’s Independence Hall. Our TJJers learned of the dream of Theodore Herzl and the early journey of the state of Israel! We were inspired by the bravery of the men who paved the way for the first ever Jewish state!
Best,
Rabbi Mike (Michael Kahn)
